Fun Team Building Games For The Pool

December 26, 2017 by The Fun Empire Team

Fun Team Building Games

Not many of us would consider a swimming pool as a place where one can host fun team building games and activities. However, if your team is looking to beat the heat while being able to get out of the office, then we believe that it can be the next place of choice to visit for your next team building session. Singapore's hot weather definitely calls for some cool off time, even when participating in team building activities!

But, with the exception of swimming, we understand that nothing may come to your mind on what you can do in the pool as a team. To help you out, we have prepared a list of 5 fun team building games that you can do during your visit to a swimming pool!

If swimming pools aren't your thing, no worries! You can check out 62 Unique and Fun Team Building Games in Singapore For 2021 for other exciting options.

Fun Team Building Games For The Pool

1. Float relay

Seen all those nice floats on Instagram and such? Here’s a great way to make use of them in this team building game! Simply split your team into two groups, and give a float to each of them. Tie a length of rope for each group from one end of the pool to the other. Then start the relay! Get each member to pull him or herself on the float, from one end of the pool to the other and back using the rope. The first group whose all members have completed the relay wins!

2. Seaweed

Have you heard of the game, "Red Rover"? More than likely, you probably haven't. The game originated from the UK but it has also spread its influence to other western countries like Australia and Canada. The reason why we mentioned this fact is because this next team building game borrows its rules from Red Rover. One player starts in the middle of the pool, while the other players line up against one of its ends. The player in the middle calls “Seaweed” and the rest of the players have to try swimming to the other side of the pool without being tagged. Once a player is tagged, they hold hands with the middle player. This creates a string of seaweed that aims to catch the remaining players. Try to be the last person standing who is not caught in the ‘seaweed’!

3. Pool Toss

This fun team building game requires several items like foam noodles, softballs, and any other pool toys you can think of. Start by dividing the pool into half using a rope. Then split the pool toys equally amongst both sides of the pool, and get each team to throw the items to the opposing team’s side of the pool when the game starts. The aim is to keep their side of the pool free from any of these toys! Have a splash while playing this team building game!

Hint: One good tactic would be to assign one part of the pool to each member so if an item lands in that area, throwing it over the line would be quick and efficient because everyone knows their roles!

4. Beach ball bumper

Do you miss playing bumper cars with your family or friends? Grab some beach balls, head down to a nearby swimming pool and you can experience it again. Give everyone a beach ball and cordon off a play area in the pool with a rope. Each player is to hug onto the beach ball which acts as the "bumper car" and try to "bump" one another to either the rope or the edges of the pool. Granted, a beach ball isn't exactly the same as a bumper car. But we can guarantee that it provides the same level of fun! If both your arms leave the beach ball or if you get bumped into the wall, you're out of the game. To foster team building, you can split your team members into different groups. Get each group to work together to rid the opposing team of members. The last group standing wins!

5. Water Volleyball

Don't think that the game of volleyball is limited to just courts and beaches. You can also play a game of volleyball in swimming pools as well! Split your employees into two teams and get each of the teams to work together to defeat their respective opponents. So what are you waiting for? Get ready to serve, set, and spike your way to victory! We are sure that this is a fun team building game that will definitely help you to foster a good sense of teamwork and camaraderie with one another.
