Good mix of practical and theory allows students to have a good foundation in the asanas as well as gain a holistic understanding of the discipline. Manoj Sir is a charismatic teacher and makes the densely packed theory part of the program easier to absorb. Shivani Ma’am has high standards and this ensures that everybody tries their best. I found the YICC experience to be quite enriching and that confidence and mastery of the asanas is a necessary outcome of this course. I am very happy doing this YICC program.Liow Yunmin

What is Yoga?
Yoga is an ancient Indian discipline to exercise the mind and body. The word yoga comes from a Sanskrit word which means "union." Yoga exercises stretch and relax the muscles, building flexibility and improving circulation by increasing oxygen supply to the muscles.
What is a yoga class in Singapore?
Yoga is a form of exercise that focuses on breathing techniques. It is said to be beneficial for the mind and body. It also helps with relaxation and spiritual enlightenment. There are many yoga classes available in Singapore such as yoga for beginners, yoga for kids, yoga for weight loss, prenatal yoga, yoga stretches, and more!
Which yoga studio in Singapore should I choose?
There are lots of yoga studios in Singapore, but not all yoga classes are created equal. It is important to choose a yoga studio that offers yoga classes for your current yoga level along with the types of yoga you want to practice. A good yoga studio should offer yoga classes for both beginners and advanced students.
Can yoga be done by beginners?
Yoga is for everyone. Yoga is the practice of connecting breathing techniques with movement to foster inner peace, clarity and strength. Refer to our article above to find the best yoga classes in Singapore that work for you!
What yoga styles are there?
Yoga has been around for centuries and there are hundreds of yoga styles to choose from.
The three main categories are as follows:
- Hatha yoga - slow yoga moves which focuses on strength and flexibility. It is the most popular form of yoga in the West.
- Yoga flow yoga - a slower to faster flowing style which combines yoga poses in a yoga routine. It is similar to Hatha yoga but generally involves faster yoga moves and yoga poses that flow into one another.
- Bikram yoga - also known as hot yoga, it focuses on 26 series of yoga poses done in a heated room. This makes the body work harder and hence sweat more than normal yoga classes.
It is best to think about what yoga style you would like to practice before choosing a yoga studio in Singapore!
